Funäsdalen
Kåvans Fjällby is situated by Funäsdalsberget, which in turn is located in the mountain village of Funäsdalen and western Härjedalen, not far from the Norwegian border. Surrounded by majestic high mountains and situated at the foot of Funäsdalsberget, the small village forms a hub in the Funäsfjällen mountains. Here you are close to fantastic skiing and nature experiences, as well as amenities, restaurants and entertainment.
About Funäsdalen
It is not without reason that Funäsdalen has been voted Sweden's best ski resort in several polls. Apart from the skiing and the scenery, the warm hospitality received throughout the Funäsfjällen area is greatly appreciated by guests. It is from this side of Funäsdalsberget that most of the alpine slopes start. Take the opportunity to get a ski-in/ski-out location, 30 steps and hey presto, you are in the ski lift!

Here you are in the immediate vicinity of some of Sweden's best and longest pistes and a vertical drop of over 300 metres on Funäsdalsberget. There is also close access to the 300 km of groomed cross-country ski trails, 650 km of snowmobile trails and the countless outdoor activities that the Funäsfjällen mountains have to offer. Whether you want to hike, mountain bike, ice skate, fish or otherwise enjoy the magnificent mountain views, Funäsdalen is the perfect starting point.
Why not take the gondola to the highest peak of Funäsdalsberget to enjoy the magnificent view? See musk oxen in their natural environment in the enclosure outside Tännäs, or experience the mountains from the back of an Icelandic horse? Regardless of the season, there is never a shortage of activities in Funäsdalen.

Close to most things
Funäsdalen has a convenient range of services, including a pharmacy, health centre, government liquor store and taxi. There are also well-stocked grocery and delicatessen shops, as well as an exciting selection of shops offering everything from fashion and interior design to sports and leisure. Opportunities for working out are also available at the local gym. Alternatively, you can relax in a spa at one of the village's hotels after a day full of activities – they are open to everyone.
If you want to experience Härjedalen's exciting history, there is the Härjedalen Mountain Museum where you can experience what life was like for mountain farmers, the Sami and other inhabitants. There are also a number of craft shops and galleries in the village where you can find inspiration and take part in Härjedalen's rich cultural heritage.
Travel to Funäsdalen
From Stockholm, the fastest way to travel by car is via Hudiksvall, Ljusdal and Sveg. From Gothenburg, the closest route by car is via Oslo and Røros or via Mora and Sveg. Or via Idre and the Mountain Road (Fjällvägen) to Funäsdalen. Otherwise, there is the Härjedalingen express bus, which takes you from Stockholm City Terminal to Funäsdalen in just a few hours.
It is also perfectly possible to fly to Funäsdalen. The nearest airports are in Sveg and Røros a few miles away. Airport transfers to and from the airports are easy to book.
